Stewardship-related Blessing

Good stewardship is very vital in our everyday life. It helps us to preserve and maintain the good quality of the things that are entrusted to us. In I Corinthians 4:2, it is written, Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. (KJV) Faithfulness has an important role in good stewardship.
A careful study of the Ark of the LORD carried aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite will surely help us to be more particular in our stewardship especially of the things of God. Obededom was a well-favored man in the sight of God and men because of his unquestionable life and role in serving the True and Living God. Consequently, God blessed him and all his household.
(I) Be A Good Steward Of The Things Of God II Samuel 6:10
Taking care of the sacred things of God like the Ark of the LORD requires sanctified life and cannot be entrusted to anyone but to the appointed people only. The death of Uzzah was a lesson and a warning to the people of Israel not to be careless in handling things that pertain to God. Uzzah’s error was heart-breaking and a tragic blunder in handling the Ark of the LORD. Beyond doubt, it was not done in due order.
The Bible says in I Chronicles 15:13-14, For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order. 14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel. (KJV) Strict adherence to God’s instructions is a must-have in handling sacred things.
David was displeased of what happened to Uzzah and their failure to transport the Ark of the LORD into the city of David. In II Samuel 6:10, it is written, So David would not remove the ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. (KJV)

Good stewardship is rewarding and God-glorifying. Every believer must be found faithful in managing the things of God. The Bible says in II Samuel 6:11, And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household. (KJV) What an inspiring reward of meticulous handling of God’s sacred things.
Have a notable testimony for God’s glory II Samuel 6:12
Obededom’s notable testimony was amplified and King David heard how his house was blessed as they took care of the Ark of the LORD. In II Samuel 6:12, it is written, And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness. (KJV) Beyond doubt, Obededom was a meticulous man and his orderly ways were guided by the Word of God.
Believers must live in the fear of the Lord and walk in an orderly manner so they may not be deviated from the principles of truth. Avoid Uzzah’s erroneous way but follow Obededom’s commendable stewardship and be a living testimony to others. As a great result, things will be done perfectly for God’s honor and glory.
Spiritual insights to live by:
David acknowledged their erroneous way of transporting the Ark of the LORD as written in I Chronicles 15:13, For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order. (KJV) There is always a sad consequence of violating God’s instructions.
The second attempt to transport the Ark of God was successful because they did it the right way and it brought joy to all. In II Samuel 6:13-15, it is written, And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings. 14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. (KJV) These verses remind us of the blessings of doing things properly and orderly especially when it comes to ministry-related works.
Be a good steward of sacred things and be a blessing to your whole household for God’s honor and glory.
