God Uses Ordinary People

The major part of the world’s populace is composed of ordinary people. They don’t have much power and influence as the rich, famous, and powerful people to shape the world, but they have the potential to be used by God for His honor and glory.
The early disciples of Christ were ordinary people, but through spreading the Gospel, they turned the world upside down. In Acts 17:6, it is written, And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; (KJV) There is no such thing as insignificant servants of God in His ministry.
Studying the Bible account of the “The Little Maid” whose life was used by God to tell others that there is a prophet of God in Israel, will surely widen our understanding concerning people whom God uses in times of need. We must keep in mind that God can use simple people to display His notable miracles.
(I) To Lead Others To The God Of Israel II Kings 5:1-3
God wants believers to let the whole world know that the God of Israel is all-powerful and His prophets are in the midst of His people. The Bible says in II Kings 5:3, And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. (KJV) This verse reveals the maid’s faith in the True and Living God and she was not ashamed to tell her mistress what God can do for Naaman.
We cannot imagine how many miracles of the Lord will be displayed in our generation if only true believers do their responsibility to share the Gospel of Christ. Naaman’s healing was a great miracle of God during Elisha’s time; but we strongly believe that people getting saved today through faith in Christ is the most important miracle of God in the lives of the unsaved people.
The little maid was used by the Lord to tell the good news to the family of Naaman and they believed and saw God’s wonderful healing. In Romans 1:16, the Apostle Paul said, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (KJV) It’s good to remember that believers are the lights of the world, and being such, they should not be ashamed to share the Gospel to this sin-darkened world.

Believing true servants of God is rewarding. In II Kings 5:3, it is written, And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. (KJV) The little maid believed that something great will happen if Naaman would go to Elisha for healing.
King Jehoshaphat believed the LORD God and His prophets and he enjoyed special protection from above. Take note of what Jehoshaphat said in II Chronicles 20:20, And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. (KJV) Ordinary people who truly believe God’s power being displayed by His servants will surely experience extraordinary success.
God uses the testimonies of ordinary people II Kings 5:4, 5
Believers’ godly testimonies are great help in telling others about the True and Living God. The Bible says in II Kings 5:4-5, And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. 5 And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. (KJV) No matter how short our stature and how low our status of life, the Lord can still use us mightily in His ministry.
The Samaritan woman’s testimony attracted people to believe the Lord Jesus Christ as the most-awaited Savior of the world. The Bible says in John 4:39, And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. (KJV) Let your testimony create spiritual impact on the lives of other people so they may believe Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
God uses simple people as channel of blessing II Kings 5:10-14
The name of the little maid was not recorded in the Bible, and yet the things she did and the words she said are still very much alive in our time. She was one of the captives but her life was truly used to point needy people to the True and Living God. Her life became a channel of blessing to others. Wherever we are, it should be our desire to tell others about the greatness of our Almighty God.
We must keep in mind that servants of God are conveyors of God’s blessings. In II Kings 5:10-12, it is written, And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. (KJV) Some people may not be convinced of what the servants of God are saying, but they would do well to weigh their words on the weighing scale of truth.
Following the instructions of true servants of God will surely lead believers to a life full of many blessings. The Bible says in II Kings 5:13-14, And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? 14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. (KJV) The unnamed servants of Naaman were ordinary people, but they were used of God to convince their master to obey Elisha’s instructions. As a great result, Naaman obeyed and was healed miraculously according to the words of Elisha.
Reminder:
Wherever you are, keep on telling others about the greatness of the True and Living God. Keep on sharing the Gospel of Christ and be a blessing to others. The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (KJV)
