From Unbelief To Public Profession Of Faith

To believe or not to believe the bodily resurrection of Christ is a matter of faith or “to see is to believe” mindset. It’s so strange, that even the Lord’s early disciples doubted His resurrection because they overlooked what is written in the Scriptures concerning Him. The Bible says in Luke 24:46, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: (KJV)
Since the resurrection of Christ until now, many people are still doubting if Jesus really resurrected bodily or remained in the grave. In Matthew 28:16-17, it is written, Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. (KJV) These verses clearly show that even some of those who have seen the Lord during His earthly ministry doubted His resurrection.
(I) It Takes Faith To Believe Christ’s Bodily Resurrection John 20:24, 25
Thomas who was one of the Lord’s disciples also doubted His bodily resurrection. Thomas was a kind of man who lived by sight and not by faith. The Bible says in John 20:25, The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. (KJV) Skeptic people are everywhere and they need to understand and believe what the Scriptures say concerning the Lord Jesus Christ who died for us at the Cross, buried, and rose again on the third day.
Believers from all corners of the world who believe the Lord Jesus Christ without a fraction of doubt are truly blest. In I Peter 1:8-9, it is written, Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. (KJV) It takes faith to believe Christ’s bodily resurrection. Those who truly repented from their sins and by faith received the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are so blest with joy of salvation. What a joy unspeakable and full of glory we have in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thomas was caught unaware and was humiliated when the Lord appeared to him and gently reproved his unbelief. In John 20:27-28, it is written, Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. (KJV) Doubt and unbelief will vanish away the moment a person realizes who Jesus really is.
Faith in Christ produces good public profession of faith and that was exactly what happened to Thomas when he said, My Lord and my God. Truly, Jesus is Lord and undeniably, He is God. In Hebrews 1:8, it is written, But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. (KJV) If we truly believe the deity of Christ, we must give His preeminence in all areas of life. (See Colossians 1:18)
Believe Christ’s death, burial and resurrection and be blest John 20:29
Genuine Christians in our time are truly blest with God’s great salvation so rich and free. They live by faith and not by sight. The Bible says in John 20:29, Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (KJV) We must not only believe Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, but proclaim the Good News so the lost may put their trust in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be saved.
Reminder:
Realizing what the Lord Jesus did for us at the Cross and the joy of salvation we are now experiencing, it’s time for us to give our profession of faith to be known publicly as we share the Good News to the lost and dying world. (See Matthew 28:19, 20)
The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1:16, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (KJV) We must keep on telling others that “Jesus Saves”.
