Consistency in all areas of life has a great role in a believer’s secular and spiritual advancement. In the secular world, consistency in one’s expertise is a plus. On the other hand, spiritual consistency paves the way of a believer to God-honoring achievements.
A well-established prayer life and wisdom-filled walk are must-haves of every Christian living in this chaotic world so he may handle the challenges of life that will come across his way. We really need a tough balancing act when it comes to our secular and spiritual walk as we tread the path of duty till Jesus our Lord comes.
(I) Needful In The Believers’ Spiritual Maintenance Colossians 4:2
Good maintenance keeps us alive and physically and spiritually healthy. As we walk in the Lord, maintaining a godly testimony is good sign of growth to spiritual maturity. The Apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 4:2, Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; (KJV) Prayerfulness is an excellent way of maintaining higher level of spirituality. It binds us together as we commune with God in a very solemn and intimate way. It shapes our spiritual life unto Christ-likeness so we can shine brightly for God’s honor and glory.
Watchfulness is an unquestionable manifestation of one’s wisdom in the midst of crooked society. Moreover, thankfulness reveals our appreciative heart before God’s throne of grace. Behind consistent spirituality is the sustaining grace of our Almighty God.
-Great help in communicating spiritual truth Colossians 4:3, 4
Prayer is communicating with God that draws a believer to Him in a sacred way. In Colossians 4:3-4, it is written, Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: 4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. (KJV) Prayerfulness makes us powerful servants of God. It gives us an intimidating presence before the enemies of truth and makes us very effective in spreading the Good News to the lost and hopeless people.
Great advantage in dealing with unbelievers Colossians 4:5, 6
Unbelieving people are spiritually blind and their way of thinking is contrary to the precepts of truth. Wisdom from above is what we need in dealing with unsaved people. The Bible says in Colossians 4:5, Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. (KJV) Our time here on earth is so short, and for such reason, we must use our time wisely especially in winning more souls for Christ.
Words are powerful and we should know how to use them appropriately with sense. Through our words, we can gain or lose the hearts of men. In Colossians 4:6, it is written, Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (KJV) Good taste of speech is edifying and heart-gaining, and wisdom-filled words are very important in dealing with people especially with the unbelievers.
Reminder:
As we see the deteriorating spirituality of the world populace, it’s time to realize the importance of consistent prayer life so we may not be led by the enticement of world fleshly trend. The Lord said in Matthew 26:41, Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (KJV)
Daniel stood the test of evil times because he believed in the true and living God. His prayer life was notable and strength-giving. In Daniel 6:10, it is written, Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. (KJV) Faith-triggered prayer is what we really need especially during critical times.
Consistent prayer life and wisdom-filled walk will surely lead us to Christ-like life filled with love, joy, peace and truth.
