Christ-like Compassion In Missions

Compassion plays a great role in solving extraordinary problem of fallen human race. Seeing people with great need could trigger our heart to become compassionate to others. What we see in this lost and dying world will surely affect and move our heart to do something that will meet the needs of others.
In Lamentations 3:51, it is written, Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city. (KJV) When Jeremiah saw the heart-breaking situation of his nation, his heart was squeezed in deep compassion toward his countrymen. Such compassion points us to the Lord Jesus Christ whose compassion toward us is incomparable and beyond man’s comprehension.
The most compassionate man who ever lived in this troubled world is our Lord Jesus Christ. In Matthew 9:36, it is written, But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. (KJV) The Lord does not only see man’s physical needs, but most importantly, the need of his hopeless and dying soul.
(I) It Makes Us Sensitive To The Physical And Spiritual Needs Of Mankind Matthew 9:35-36
Christ-like compassion makes us sensitive to the needs of man’s whole being. In Matthew 9:35-36, And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. (KJV) We must keep on growing unto Christ-likeness so we may clearly see the spiritual need of the lost.
-It helps us realize the vastness of the harvest field Matthew 9:37
Through the eyes of Jesus, we realize the reality and vastness of the mission field and the needed laborers. The Bible says in Matthew 9:37. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; (KJV) Souls are dying and going to hell, but sad to say that only few Christians are doing the great task in the spiritual harvest field.

There are so many professing Christians from all corners of the world today, but there are only few believers who are faithfully serving the Lord. The Lord said in Matthew 9:38, Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. (KJV) Every believer must know his moral and spiritual responsibilities toward the unsaved people.
Prayer and missions are inseparable things in global evangelization. We must keep in mind that going to the mission field is going to the battlefield. We must realize that we are fighting against the forces of darkness and the best weapon we have in the battlefield is prayer.
Reminder:
The world is truly in need of God’s great salvation so rich and free. As shining lights in this sin-darkened world, it is our responsibility to reach the lost so they may not neglect or overlook the blessing of being saved through faith in Christ. The Bible says in Hebrews 2:3, How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; (KJV) God mandated us to share the Good News and this blessed task should be fulfilled according to His blessed will.
Have a Christ-like compassion and be a part in fulfilling the Great Commission.
